ok this should be under a "who really cares" section, but whatever, humor me if you could... so im listeing to celebrity skin right now... in 'reasons to be beautiful' courtney sings: "its better to rise than to fade away." ... just curious as to what you all think about it, im assuming its a slap in the face to kurt, type of line. but i think im stupid, cause i cant figure out what she means.

hey i hope ya don't mind that i moved this, stuff in the garbage can tends to disappear off the page & this section doesnt get that many new threads and i thought this'd be a nice one to have in here... i think you raise a good point, i don't think it was a slap in the face to kurt however, i think she was just pissed off that he'd left her alone in the world, if you have the recording of her reading the note she says "it's better to burn out than fade away" and then she's like "that's bullshit why didn't you just fucking stay" and stuff like that, basically she doesn't believe the "it's better to burn out..." slogan and has come up with her own version of what she believes, i guess it is a reference to kurt though for definite

i think what she meant is that its better to get through your problems-and rise above them-than to give up and let them drown you. i dont t hink she meant it as a slap in the face to kurt, but kurt said in his note (if you believe it was all written by him) that its "better to burn out than fade away" and since a lot of kids looked up to kurt, and still do, she didnt want them to take that line that he said (its better to burn out...) as if it meant something and burning out was something to aspire to. shes saying that rising above is something to aspire to. just my interpretation.
